Star Wars DIY Cosplay Remix: Combining other Cosplays with Star Wars Characters

Hey fellow cosplayers, did you all enjoy your time at San Diego Comic Con this year? What shows are you excited to see this year? With SDCC2018 now out of the way, now would be a good time to experiment with whatever Star Wars clothing, accessories, and cosplay accessories that you have. After all, since Halloween and PAXWest are coming up, who wouldn’t want to try combining other cosplays with Star Wars characters?

Without further ado, here is our Star Wars DIY Cosplay Remix!

The Heros(or in this case, Heroines) of the Story - Rey from Star Wars: The Force Awakens and (Young) Lara Croft from Tomb Raider

As two of the world’s most beloved protagonists in Ancient Geek history, why else would it make any sense to put the two together? After all, they’re both young and naive heros who ultimately grew up to help out humanity. Not to mention that they both look relatively similar(oddly enough….).

What You’ll Need:

  • A grey tunic/dress with slits on the sides
  • Either a light green or grey colored tank top
  • A green talisman
  • A brown belt to wrap around your tunic
  • Black or brown pants that you can easily walk around in
  • Black or brown boots
  • A hair tie that can easily blend with dark brown colored hair

Possible tools of the trade:

  • Fabric scissors
  • Either a sewing machine or a good old fashioned needle and spool of grey colored thread
  • Light green or grey colored fabric dye, which you can purchase at any craft store
  • A green flat stone that you can easily purchase at any craft store
  • A brown leather cord for the necklace

For the most part, you can find these outfit pieces at any costume or second-hand shop that you can find. However, if you really need to have a grey tunic, you can take any grey colored dress and cut it/sew it however you see it. As for the necklace, you can make it using a brown leather cord and a green flat stone.

Side note: Psst! Need help getting started with some of the Star Wars pieces? Feel free to check out our very first blog for references!

The Villains - Darth Vader from Star Wars: Episode Five - The Empire Strikes Back and Mario from Super Mario Brothers

Sorry fellow gamers, but according to our friend, MatPatt, from YouTube’s Gamer Theory, it appears that our fellow plumber friend from the mushroom kingdom happens to be a member of the dark side. That is why with this cosplay combination, you’ll be sure to be the most unstoppable in villain all throughout the galaxy. MUWHAHAHAHAHA!

What You’ll Need

  • A red hat with the “M” emblem on him
  • Black gloves
  • A black cape
  • Blue overalls
  • A black Darth Vader mask
  • A red shirt
  • Either black or brown boots

Possible tools of the trade:

  • Fabric scissors
  • Either a sewing machine or a good old fashioned needle and spool of thread that matches the cloth that you want to sew
  • Fabric paint(if you want to paint the “M” symbol on yourself)
  • Red or black dye(if you’re not able to find the right colored fabrics)

For the most part, you can find these at any craft or costume store. However, if you need help, you can always ask someone if you can borrow(or in this case, “borrow”) some of their pieces.

In fact, if you’re desperatly looking to find a Mario hat or any other type of Mario outfit, feel free to check out what we already have in the shop. https://www.costumegrab.com/search/view/109

The Intergallatic Jerks - Han Solo and Spike Spiegel

Ah yes, fellow space cowboys(and girls), who would ever forget our own two most believed stuck-up, half-witted, scruffy-looking nerf herders?

Now to be fair, there are no such things as “nerf herders” in Spike Spiegel’s world of crime and bounty hunting. But hey, given that he and Han Solo share similar personalities, why wouldn’t they be?

What You’ll Need:

  • A leather brown, blue black jacket
  • A collared white shirt
  • Black or dark blue pants
  • Brown or black shoes

Possible tools of the trade:

  • Fabric scissors
  • Either a sewing machine or a good old fashioned needle and spool of grey colored thread

The All Female Warrior Rulers - Princess Leia(armor version) and Warrior Princess Xena

Hailed from the Lands of Alderann and Ancient Greece comes two of the world’s most beloved, crime fighting rulers of royalty: Leia and Xena!

At least now you won’t have to choose as to who you want to go as for the next cosplay ball, especially since their battle outfits are so similar.

What You’ll Need:

  • Leather, lots and LOTS of leather gear. Otherwise, if you want to save yourself some extra time and get yourself some brown clothes that you can easily trim off, you can
  • Brown leather boots(otherwise, you can always go barefoot, if you want)
  • Metal (if possible) . Otherwise, you can always use some leftover plastic armor from years back and make something new out of them
  • A combination of a high pitched battle cry and an annoying bossy voice.

Possible tools of the trade:

  • A rotary cutter (works better than scissors for leather)
  • Either a sewing machine or a good old fashioned needle and spool of grey colored thread

Basically, if you want to take the long and hard way, you can always go to your nearest black smith and forge your own. Otherwise, it’s probably best to borrow your mom or sister’s leftover dresses, swimsuit pieces, and/or bras and make something cool out of them.

The Wise Alien Folks - Mr. Spock and Yoda

Yoda-Use-The-Force-It-Rocks

Well, well, well, it appears that here in the galaxy, we have two of the wisest alien creatures of all: Yoda and Mr. Spock. At least would seem rather logical that they’d both be a matching making cosplay in Heaven, right?

Well regardless, if you’re having trouble deciding between which of our two wise ones do you wanna cosplay as, then here’s an idea that’s perfect for you!

What You’ll Need:

  • A long blue sleeved overshirt with whatever spaceship symbol you want on it
  • A long black sleeved undershirt
  • Black or Grey pants
  • A grey robe
  • A nice pair of long alien ears(color is up to you
  • Black boots
  • Green makeup

Possible tools of the trade:

  • A pair of scissors
  • Latex(to make the ears)
  • An iron and ironing board
  • Either a sewing machine or a good old fashioned needle and spool of grey colored thread

Other than you needing to possibly iron on the patch to the shirt, this cosplay looks pretty easy, doesn’t it? As for the ears, you can either purchase them at a convention or at a craft store or making them by hand doesn’t seem very feasible. What do you think, Mr. Spock? Mr. Spock?

Ah boo hoo you two, overly depressed, mysgnostic, grown-men! Just because you’re not like your fathers doesn’t mean that you aren’t worth anything on our list. To be quite frank, you’re actually worth a lot more. ;)

What You’ll Need:

  • A grey colored cloak/tunic to go with your lovely red robe
  • A long yellow collar
  • A long beard(trimmed or untrimmed. Try experimenting with the combination if you want to)

  • A pair of scissors
  • Blue makeup/paint
  • An iron and ironing board(to help get the shape of Tenzin’s collar right)
  • Either a sewing machine or a good old fashioned needle and spool of grey colored thread

The Robo Cuties - BB-8 from Star Wars: Episode 8 and Wall-E from Wall-E

What You’ll Need:

  • A combination of brown, white, and orange clothes
  • A red eyelight that you can easily switch off with your big, handmade, wide eyes
  • A curious mind
  • Optional: A random dirty bra that you found in the depths of your sister’s closet one day. Ssssshhhhh...

First off, Johnny, my name isn’t Lisa, it’s Athena. Second off, why are you so hysterical? Part of the fun of putting two different cosplays together is tearing them apart. But hey, at least you and Jar Jar will become famous on here. Isn’t that right, Jar Jar?
